ABOUT FORREST
I have always had a deep appreciation for art. I remember my grandparents giving me every how-to-draw book on nature, animals, cars, cartoon characters, and more. My artwork soon developed into recreations of my grandfather’s architecture drawings, his handwriting, my parents’ handwriting, and even practicing their signatures, for obvious reasons. For every school group project, I was quick to volunteer myself as the artist so I could avoid doing any writing or actual work. When I went to Holy Cross to play football, I somehow ended up with a degree in Studio Art.
Though my career expanded beyond the studio, my creative practice remained constant, measuring and sketching every day at an engineering firm. My mathematical mind working in perfectly straight lines with perfect proportions. I still loved to draw, but it didn’t quite satisfy the art I was looking for.
As a personal trainer, you could say that I am making art, sculpting bodies into the most chiseled versions of themselves. There’s definitely an art to lifting weights and getting stronger, but it‘s just not the same as pen and ink. Nothing more satisfying than a tiny black tree on crisp white paper. To me, at least.
I guess if I had to define my work, I would say it is simple, yet satisfying. Every design begins in black and white, purposefully minimal to leave room for interpretation, offering space for subtle details to speak. Then I’ll add some lines, some geometric shapes, maybe even color if I’m feeling adventurous. The result is art that doesn’t compete for attention, but invites it. It’s calm, precise, and deeply intentional.
It’s a reminder that beauty often lives in what is overlooked.
